Well! I knew I was going to D.C. this month to play with John Eaton and Tommy Cecil, the masters of piano and bass ..and then with Janelle Gill and Amy Shook, two young talents of those instruments. Never thought, though, that both venues (JCC of Greater Washington and Westminster Church) would be sold out, nor that I'd sell out every last copy I had with me of "Shades of Carol".
On my return from D.C., three exciting performances at Iridium, Augustana Lutheran Church and Dizzy's Club Coca Cola. At the latter, we (Carol Sudhalter and Friends) featured my student, Aaron Roth, only 16, on alto sax. Blew everyone away with his rendition of Sammy Nestico's soulful ballad "Lonely Street". At Iridium, I played the show for Lorraine Anthanio Lofaso. Wonderful vocalist. Talk about seasoned, she is the quintessence! She has it! We were all in tears on her "Say it Isn't So".
